Kobierzyn Stalag 369: wystawa w bloku 3
Artykuł o bloku 3 w czasopiśmie „Le Crack” nr 16/17
z sierpnia i września 1943 r., strony 12 i 13.
1. Two shots from the exhibition.
On the tables are crafts made by the children themselves, either from tins or from pieces of wood!
2. A view of the exhibition
Overwiew.
3. Program
“Our group publishes its own monthly magazine. We put together a special issue to mark the exhibition, which was on display there. You see, it really is a lovely exhibition.”
4. Religious art
A painting from a stand dedicated to religious themes. ‘God presents the prisoners with a new France, which will be reborn from the ruins of the old’.
5. School – a book.
The teachers also got involved in the event and put on a very successful stand! It must be such a pleasure to teach at this exemplary school! The figurines of the pupils are made of plaster and were created by a teacher from Auvergne.
6. Advertising stand
By Loysy (that’s the chap who does portraits). The stand attracted a great deal of admiration thanks to its precision and attention to detail.
7. Electricity
Power station: the wooden insulators were cut on a lathe using tools made by the exhibitors – it wasn’t an ideal solution, but thanks to everyone’s goodwill, we managed to achieve the desired result!
8. Electricity
Power station.
9. Electricity
hydroelectric dam
10. Train
This electric machine was built entirely from tinned food cans: it was about 1 metre long and 30–35 cm high. The photograph is very well taken; it looks just like a real machine.
11. Railways
A reinforced concrete bridge! Doesn’t it look just like a real bridge photographed from an aeroplane!
12. The mine
The mining engineers also had their own stand. Here is the upper part of the mine. The lifts were powered by a hydraulic system.
13. Inside the mine.
You can’t really tell from the photo, but it was a beautiful project.
14. Beekeeping
You see, just like at big fairs, there was a honey stall there – with the only difference being that there was neither honey nor sweets to try! There were no drinks stalls either, but there was a well nearby!
15. Architecture
Isn’t this little farmhouse just lovely? It must be a brilliant place to live!
16. Architecture
Unannotated.
17. Architecture
Unannotated.
18. Architecture
A butcher’s shop fitted out with all the latest amenities, which really did look fantastic!
19. Architecture
Reconstruction of the Chaillot Palace. The photograph shows jets of water rising from the pool. The pool was illuminated from below by lights in various colours. The effect was magnificent.
20. Architecture
A general view of the Chaillot Palace, set on stage. In the orchestra pit – a corner dedicated to architecture.
21. Architecture
The town of Villeurbanne. The stand run by residents of Lyon – the entire structure was built entirely from Red Cross biscuit tins, and I can assure you it looked absolutely brilliant! Just imagine how much patience it must have taken to drill those 200 or so little windows, each measuring 1 cm by 2 cm!
22. Architecture
Another view of the town of Villeurbanne – as one might imagine – from a bird’s-eye view.
23. Decoration
A staircase made entirely by hand from biscuit tin lids. It’s a jeweller’s masterpiece!!
24. Decoration
A modern studio. Furniture from Fidou. Rugs and cushions from Bourdeu! This studio was charmingly decorated, and believe me, the rugs and fur cushions were a real sight to behold! It had it all: small pieces of leopard, murmet, astrakhan, seal and mink fur, and so on!
25. Elegance
Here is our fashion stand. The dresses are by the master tailor Watel (of the Molyneux fashion house), and the furs are by Bourdeu.
